MEDIA EDIT SPRING 2024

Easter calls for the GOOD stuff

Egg-citing times! Easter has arrived at Waitrose and we have an abundance of delectable new seasonal treats for the whole family to enjoy. Whether you’re looking for some indulgence, a bitesized treat or beautiful bakes, there’s something for everyone this Easter. And we’re proud to continue our use of Fairtrade cocoa in all of our own-brand confectionery.

Pistachio and blonde chocolate are really having a moment. We wanted to create something which encases both flavours as they work so well together, while also giving our customers an element of surprise. Our new No.1 The Cracking Pistachio Egg is inspired by pistachio nuts, with not one but two shells! It’s blonde on the outside and when cracked open reveals a pistachio shell inside. Grown-ups deserve some fun at Easter too and we think this will do just the trick.”

Every day is sunny with Sam

Our very cute friend Sunny Side Sam had such a cracking time last Easter that he’s back for another year – with even more of him to love. Sam on Toast is a solid Belgian milk chocolate slice with a creamy butterscotch flavour, great for those who adore Sam but fancy some milk chocolate. You can also pick up a loveable Sunny Side Sam Plush toy which can be kept forever – because eggs aren’t just for Easter.

Blondes have more fun

With searches for ‘blonde chocolate’ up 67% on waitrose.com, our customers will be delighted to know that the No.1 Hidden Truffles Blonde Chocolate Easter Egg is back. This creamy, caramelised, white chocolate egg with feuilletine and fleur de sel includes a box of four salted caramel truffles. Even better, you can now get a taste of this Easter favourite all year round with our new No.1 Blonde Chocolate bar – the same ingredients, but in bar form.

No moo, just ooo!

Being vegan or lactose-intolerant shouldn’t mean you have to miss out on sweet treats. We have two delicious new ranges of dairy-free Easter chocolate exclusive to Waitrose this year. Cox & Co and Happi produce their amazing eggs using single origin Colombian cacao chocolate and their packaging is completely sustainable – it’s made from wood pulp, so it is also home compostable.

Rising to the occasion

To make Easter a piece of cake, we have six exciting new baked treats that all come ready to serve and share. There’s something for every taste, including Hot Cross Bunettone (a heavenly hot cross bun/panettone hybrid), light-as-air Lemon and Raspberry Torta encasing all the flavours of spring, and Chirpy Chicks that are almost too cute to eat. Celebrations call for the very best, so we’ve also added two new No.1 hot cross buns to our Easter range. No.1 Golden Hot Cross Buns and No.1 Belgian Chocolate Hot Cross Buns are made with sourdough starter and baked free-flowing to give them an artisan feel. Bursting with dried fruits or studded with creamy chocolate? However you like your bun, we’ve the one for you!

Time to bloom

Celebrate spring and welcome a burst of colour into the home with our beautiful range of flowers. Whether the bouquets are a gift or a little treat for yourself, we have a wide seasonal selection in our shops and also on Waitrose Florist, which offers a home delivery service – so you can send a gift to faraway friends.

Spring is one of my favourite times of year. There’s so much to celebrate, so we’ve put together some GOOD bouquets for the occasion. Yellow is a beautiful spring colour associated with happiness, hope and joy – we really wanted to bring this feeling into our customers’ homes. You’ll see sunflowers, daffodils and soft lemon alstroemeria coming through in bouquets that will put a smile on anyone’s face.”
